A healthier twist on a family favorite
There’s something about a big bowl of spaghetti and meatballs that feels like home. This version keeps all the comfort and flavor while trading the usual beef and pork for lean ground turkey. You get a lighter, protein-packed dinner that still tastes like Sunday at Nonna’s.
The secret is fresh breadcrumbs made from day-old French bread. They keep the meatballs tender and moist, which is the trick with turkey since it can dry out easily. Add Parmesan, oregano, and basil, and you have a meatball the whole family will ask for again.
Serve them over spaghetti with your favorite tomato sauce, tuck them into a sub, or drop smaller sized meatballs into soup for an easy, comforting meal. 🍝
Why you’ll love them
Protein-packed: lean turkey and eggs make these a great post-workout dinner.
Simple ingredients: just seven, and you probably have most of them already.
Easy to make ahead: roll a batch on Sunday and dinner is set for the week.

Ingredients
1 lb ground turkey
½ loaf day-old French bread
⅔ cup Parmesan cheese
2 eggs
1 tbsp oregano
2 tbsp basil
Salt and pepper, to taste
Directions
Preheat. Heat the oven to 350°F and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
Make the breadcrumbs. Cut the bread into cubes and pulse in a blender or food processor until fine crumbs form.
Mix. In a large bowl, add the turkey, breadcrumbs, Parmesan, eggs, oregano, basil, salt, and pepper. Mix gently with your hands just until combined.
Roll. Shape into meatballs and place them on the baking sheet.
Bake. Bake for 15–20 minutes, depending on the size of your meatballs, until they reach 165°F inside. You can also simmer them in tomato sauce until cooked through.
Serve. Spoon over spaghetti or add to your favorite soup. Enjoy!
Tips for the best meatballs
Don’t overmix. Mixing gently keeps the meatballs light and tender.
Wet your hands. A little water keeps the mixture from sticking while you roll.
Keep the size even. Meatballs the same size cook at the same rate.
Freeze for later. Freeze cooked meatballs on a tray, then move them to a freezer bag. Reheat them in sauce on busy nights.
